DIY Glitter Acrylic Swirl Embellishments (Picture Tutorial): Stampin' Up! Artisan Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to the Stampin' Up! Artisan Design Team Blog Hop! This week I've got a super fun technique to share with you that was inspired by my friend Melody Hyde and her amazing Snuggles & Smooches stamp set. So if you know the set I'm talking about, you know it has some adorable swirly whirly stamps that look like wound up bakers twine. Well, being on the Artisan Design Team means you have to create with the supplies that are in 'the box' and Snuggles & Smooches was not in the box. Hmmm. I could have just used some twine, but that seemed too basic, so I got my creative juices moving and came up with something a little more fun.
So what do you think? Fun and easy right?! I've already made several more little swirls so I can have them on hand for more projects.
Here's a close up so you can see the details. The embellishment looks a little yellow in the photo, but it's not, that's just the glitter catching the light when I was taking the picture.
The embellishment is the showstopper on this card, but it has lots of fun elements from the You Plus Me stamp set too. And the tiniest little sliver of Stacked with Love DSP.

Now let's go see what my friend Barbara has to share this week!

Thanks so much for stopping by! I'll be back tomorrow to share a project from my January Stamp Club, so stay tuned!

January Stamp Club: Lotus Blossom Card

The Lotus Blossom stamp set was a HUGE hit with my SE Calgary Stampin' Up! Stamp Club ladies this month! Everyone was totally amazed at how easy it was to stamp the three images on top of one another to create a beautiful, and rich with colour image.
We made FOUR projects at my club this month because I just couldn't choose which of the new things I wanted to show them first. The ladies were thrilled to hear that they could earn this stamp set for FREE during Sale-a-bration.

Another big hit was the Crazy About You Stamp Set and Hello You Thinlits (I used them to create the sentiment on this card). I LOVE the thin and scroll-y sentiment thinlits dies.
If you're looking for a fun evening of stamping with a group of GREAT gals we have a few precious spaces remaining. Next club meetings are Monday, February 9th and Tuesday, February 10th. Email me asap if you'd like to join the fun.

January Stamp Club: Rainbow Fun w/ Irresistibly Yours DSP

Two weeks ago I had my Calgary Stampin' Up! Stamp Club ladies over for some stamping fun. We always have a blast and I love sharing techniques and ideas with them. If you're looking for a fun evening of stamping with a group of GREAT gals we have a few precious spaces remaining. Next club meetings are Monday, February 9th and Tuesday, February 10th. Email me asap if you'd like to join the fun.

This month I was thrilled to show the ladies the AWESOME new Irresistibly Yours Designer Series Paper. This stuff is SO cool. The paper comes embossed with these stripes (6 total patterns, this is just one) so you can sponge and spritz and stamp on it til your heart's content. Then you just wipe it with a paper towel and the embossed parts will have resisted the ink and the pattern will show through. LOVE this stuff.
Oh, and what's even better is you can choose this paper free, yes FREE, with a $60 order! SCORE!

The Unveiling! New Nice People Stamp Studio and Craft Room

Hello friends! I am SO thrilled to finally share my brand new stamping space with you! There's still a lot of things I'd like to add, but I think it's a pretty good start! I made a little video tour for you, so check it out!

Here's some still shots of some of my favourite spaces.
This is the classroom portion of my new space. Here I have it set up for 11 class attendees, but all it takes is a little rearranging and the addition of another table and I can accommodate several more guests.
This gallery wall was a labour of love for sure. It took several tries to arrange all the items in a combination that I love. I also painted almost every element to make them go with my colour scheme. Getting it all on the wall took several hours too.
One of my favourite pieces is this refinished mantle. I bought it second hand and it was a very generic dark cherry colour. Over the Christmas break I gave it a new and funky look with some Annie Sloan Chalk Paint and of course lots of distressing.
From the moment the contract was signed to renovate our home I started dreaming up this marquee sign. I knew exactly what I wanted and I was determined to make it a reality. I'm so pleased with the outcome!

I refinished almost every piece of furniture and created all the decor myself. It was a lot of work, but it's the kind of crafty diy fun that I love. I hope you love my new space as much as I do. Please come stamp with me in my SE Calgary studio soon!

Sending You Love Card: Stampin' Up! Artisan Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to the Stampin' Up! Artisan Design Team Blog Hop! I know many of my blog readers are anxiously awaiting photos of my new studio and office, and they're coming soon I promise! Just a few finishing touches to go until it's photo ready.

Today on the Artisan Hop I've got a little watercolour beauty for you. Not only did I watercolour the balloon, but I did the sky background too. Need some easy peasy clouds? Use a selection of circle punches!

I love sending Valentines to my long distance friends, so the custom sentiment on this one is perfect. What makes it so 'custom'? Well, I used two stamp sets and thinlits to make it say exactly what I wanted.

Are you ready to see what my friend Barbara has created this week! Hop on over the ocean to see her!

Thanks so much for stopping by!
